About Symon Productions

Robyn Symon, an award-winning filmmaker and former TV news reporter and Senior Producer at PBS, heads Symon Productions.

She is currently producing and directing the upcoming ReelzChannel docu-series “Nancy O’Dell Remembers” featuring the host of “Entertainment Tonight” covering celebrity events that shocked the world. Robyn is also directing several film projects including the upcoming documentary feature, Do No Harm

In 2007, Robyn entered the indie film industry producing, directing and editing the acclaimed documentary Transformation: The Life & Legacy of Werner Erhard about one of the most illusive cultural icons of the 20th century. The film was picked up for distribution by Screen Media Films and seen around the world. Journeyman Pictures picked up her film Behind the Blue Veil, about the nomadic Tuareg tribe caught in the middle of the war on terror. Her latest film, Uncle Gloria: One Helluva Ride! has become a hit on the film festival circuit winning the Audience Award for Best Documentary and is slated for distribution in 2017.

As a producer for PBS, Robyn won 2 Emmy awards and countless other honors. She produced the national national PBS documentary series “Voices of Vision”, hosted by NPR’s Scott Simon focusing on the work of non-profit organizations around the world. Robyn also produced the series “Florida!” which in addition to PBS, aired on The Travel Channel for five seasons and wrote and produced “Boleros!” a hit musical pledge special for PBS featuring the world’s top Latin music stars.

Robyn has produced for numerous network TV series including “Health and Family” with Joy Philbin for Discovery Health, a multi-platformed educational health series sponsored by the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies also airing on CTV in Canada; “Freestyle for HGTV; “Living with HIV” and numerous fundraising videos and PSAs for non profit organizations.

Robyn began her career as a TV news reporter for network affiliates, KBMT, KJAC-TV and KLBJ in Texas. Over the years, she’s been honored with numerous national awards including two Emmys for writing and producing short documentaries; 3 National Telly Awards; 2 NABJ awards, two Associated Press and UPI.
