Robyn Symon, an award-winning filmmaker and former TV news reporter and Senior Producer at PBS, heads Symon Productions.
Robyn began her career as a TV news reporter for network affiliates, KBMT, KJAC-TV and KLBJ in Texas. Over the years, she has been honored with numerous national awards, including two Emmys for writing and producing short documentaries; three National Telly Awards; two NABJ awards, two Associated Press and United Press International awards.
In 2007, Robyn entered the indie film industry producing, directing and editing the acclaimed documentary Transformation: The Life & Legacy of Werner Erhard, about one of the most illusive cultural icons of the 20th century and pioneer of the multi-billion dollar self-help industry. The film was picked up for distribution by Screen Media Films and seen around the world.
Her subject matters are as diverse as her curiosity about people and cultures. Journeyman Pictures acquired the international rights for her documentary film Behind the Blue Veil, about the nomadic Tuareg tribe caught in the middle of the war on terror. Uncle Gloria: One Helluva Ride! has become a hit on the film festival circuit, winning the Audience Award for Best Documentary in multiple film festivals around the world and was picked up for international distribution by XLRATOR MEDIA. She is currently finishing up her latest film,Do No Harm, about the hidden epidemic of physician suicide and medical errors.
